Here's the question: Why did people like to live near castles? Please answer ASAP!
Thanks!
Matthew KreiserMerlin Some people maybe didn't like to live near a castle, but they had to because they worked there or they even belonged to the castle-lord.
One other reason was that a castle provided a certain amount of savety in times of war. Many castles were also situated on important traffic-points like bridges or crossroads, were it was possible to live not only from agriculture, but also from trade. In central europe lords of the higher nobility had the right to found towns with a daily or weekly market. They were often situated right next to the lords castle so he could control it and its earnings.
